GadgetTrak Helps Find Your Stolen Stuff!

by Matthew Rathbun on January 30, 2010

I admit it… I’m paranoid about my Mac or Blackberry being swiped by some nefarious gadget-grabber.  Today while searching for insurance options for my Mac, I found GadgetTrak.com.  For $25 a year it will embed software on your PC, Mac, iPhone or Blackberry that can later be triggered if the item is stolen.  Sound like Lojack?  Sure, the company says that they will use WiFi positioning and other features to locate where your device is.  Here’s one of the cool features of GadgetTrac – it will use the camera in the device to take a picture of he who holds it and post the picture on Flickr.com!  That is very cool.

Wish I'd bought this Thursday. Last Friday, I left my netbook at the oil change place for an hour and a half and it was GONE!

Seems to me from a bit of research that LoJack for Laptops is the best of breed product on the market. I think if I buy this type of software I am going with #1 vendor on the market, no offence.
