Sharing Large Files with Dropbox

One of my absolutely favorite free online tools right now is Dropbox.  I thought that most everyone was using it, but I’ve recently found that a lot of people have never heard what it is.  Dropbox allows you to store large files online and share them with specific people.

For instance, I have a large contract to share, or HOA docs and they are simply too big to attach in an email, I can add them to my Dropbox folder and choose to share them with the other agent or client.  The safe attachment size for most email systems is only 5mb, but  Dropbox gives you 2 gigs of space!  It’s password protected and only those people you choose to share with, may have access.

If you’re a team or a company broker and you want to make documents available for anyone who has internet, you can “invite” your team to share these documents.  Uploading is easy, in that whatever you copy into your Dropbox folder on your computer is automatically sync’d online.  I also use it as an instructor to share class handouts and materials with the places where going to speak or have created the materials for.

The other huge advantage is that most iPad applications sync with Dropbox, so that you can add files from your computer to easily access them with the iPad apps.
